Cancer patients frequently experience pain and suffering as their primary grievances. The mishandling of these issues would adversely affect the quality of life of cancer patients. One approach to improve the capacity of cancer patients to manage a range of challenges, such as pain, is through the provision of patient-centered education. In order to provide appropriate educational materials, it is necessary to accurately capture the process of pain management as performed by the individuals involved. This paper presents new and in-depth data on the efforts of cancer survivors in improving their knowledge and skills in dealing with various discomforts during cancer. The study used a qualitative methodology to examine cancer patients at Dr. Kariadi Semarang, who have been diagnosed with different types of cancer. We employed purposive sampling to select our respondents. Data was collected through in-depth interviews. The data analysis was conducted using Atlas.ti. The report is prepared using COREQ principles. This analysis yielded five distinct research themes. In an effort to improve their knowledge and skills in dealing with various discomforts, cancer survivors carry out several activities including by actively engaging in the search for information through electronic media (television and video), following various religious studies, establishing social relationships to obtain support and sharing experiences from other cancer survives (peer), more comfortable doing learning activities in a comfortable and enjoyable environment, and will be more motivated if obtained incentives.
